Company History

Baby Face was the brainchild of Thomas Jr. and Benita Chiles and has been a family-owned business since its genesis in 2001. Baby Face has undergone significant transitions since its beginning and is proud of its contributions to the local community.

In October 2006, Baby Face began its transformation from a daycare center into a child development center.  The family knew the transition wouldn’t be easy, but it would be done.  The transformation is a multiyear initiative and involves two phases.

Phase One: Raise Program Standards.
The first phase recognized the community wanted more than a childcare.  In this phase, Baby Face raise the standards of the program, which included:
  • Participating in Kentucky's STARS for KIDS NOW, a voluntary quality rating system for licensed Type I and Type II child care centers.  As of July 2007, the company achieved a STARS Level 1 rating.
  • Raising the education requirements for program instructors, such as completing courses in Early Childhood Education and earning the Childhood Development Associate (CDA) credential.  Several staff are currently enrolled in Early Childhood Education programs.
  • Participating in Kentucky's Child and Adult Care Food Program, which aims to supply the best, most nutritious meals to children.  Baby Face has been an active participant since December 2007.

Phase Two: Modernize

Phase two is underway.  The goal of this phase is to increase the capacity and capability of the staff and overall program.

The company will continue to serve a diverse population of families and operate as a full-service center. The family will consider the transformation from a daycare center to a child development center complete once Baby Face achieves the STARS Level 3 Rating.
